Volunteering
We'd be pleased to hear from you if you would like to volunteer. Email jobs@cann.network to tell us how much time you have and what you’d like to do. Here are some examples of how you might be able to help:
- Be our treasurer. It should take no more than half a day a month on average, though it will take more time at first while we are setting up our systems, and each year when we do the annual accounts.
- We also need a book-keeper for the basic financial management. This could be the same person as the treasurer, or two people could work together. This should take no more than one hour a week.
- We need to keep our social media accounts up-to-date and lively, to attract supporters to give us a strong voice for nature and the climate.
- We also need to keep our website accurate, well-informed and useful. We need one or two people with a few hours each week or so.
Trustees
The current trustees are Adam Goulden (Southampton), Martin Heath (Basingstoke), Rod Painell (Alton, East Hants), Chris Holloway (Winchester), Hannah Terrey (HIWWT).
The trustees are elected by CANN members at the AGM each year. If you are interested in becoming a trustee, please e-mail hello@CANN.Network and we will send you the papers. The arrangements for nomination will be added here on the website before long.
We encourage applications for election as trustees from people involved in community groups working on a mixture of climate and nature themes, in each of the future unitary authorities in Hampshire and the Solent Combined Authority, and from a diverse range of backgrounds ands experiences.
Delegated responsibilities
Trustees can delegate areas of CANN activity to steering groups or subcommittees. Membership of such groups is not restricted to trustees.
The trustees remain responsible for ensuring that the activity complies with CANN’s constitution, resources, and policies.
At present the trustees have set up two groups:
- The Finance Committee
- The Voice for Climate and Nature Steering Group
Interest groups
Informal interest groups keep CANN up-to-date on key topics and help shape what we say. If you want to join an interest group or set one up, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
